This audio tour is optimized for cycling, but you can experience it in many different ways. If you choose to walk the route, expect long pauses between the stories.

Kiawah Island is about 25 miles southwest of Charleston, South Carolina. It is nestled between Folly Beach and James Island to the northeast, and Seabrook Island, Wadmalaw Island, and Rockville to the southwest.

Kiawah Island is a remarkable place where native landscapes, wildlife, and people coexist for the benefit of all. Many people know Kiawah Island for its private beach, golf resort, and views of the Atlantic Ocean. Whether you are a golf or wildlife enthusiast or both, memories are built on the natural wonders here.

This tour begins at the Heron Park Nature Center, the start of the Kiawah Island biking route pathways. Along the way, you will encounter a dozen points of interest that include information on the island's natural environment and cultural history. You will also learn more about recreational opportunities that exist throughout the central part of the island.

This route takes you to Naturally Kiawah Garden, Rhett's Bluff, Vanderhorst Plantation House, Marsh Island Park, Allee of the Oaks, and Osprey Point Preserve.

Additionally, you will visit Bass Pond and Creek – one of the premier fishing locations on Kiawah. Also, you will learn Native American history and culture at the oyster shell mound and stop at Sanctuary Gardens, which is not only a five-star hotel but also an internationally recognized Audubon garden.
