The Columbia Land Conservancy (CLC) welcomes you to Nature Quest at Drowned Lands Swamp Pond Conservation Area located in Ancram, NY. The theme of this Nature Quest tour is wetland animals.

Drowned Lands Swamp Conservation Area is located in beautiful Columbia County, which is nestled between the Catskills and Berkshires along the Hudson River north of New York City.
This site includes 1.5 miles of trails through wetlands and forests. Much of this area is part of the Harlem Valley wetlands complex, one of the largest wetlands in New York. Wetlands are areas where water covers the ground during all or parts of the year. These areas provide important habitats for many plants and animals.

During this quest, you'll head south from the parking area down the Wetlands Trail. Take your time and have fun! This audio tour is designed to be enjoyed at your own pace.

Be sure to pack bug spray if you’re headed to Drowned Lands in the summer. This area is well known for black flies.
