Imagine an outdoor experience deeply enhanced with stories, scientific knowledge, fun facts, and natural sounds—with your phone as your tour guide. The Nan Weston Preserve audio tour offers all of this.
This walking tour takes you along a mile and a half route. Depending on how many stops you take, it will be about one hour until you reach the River Raisin. As you make your way through flood plain forests and wetlands, you will learn about and may see birds, trees, flowers, salamanders, and other wildlife.
While in the Preserve, please stay on the trail, and leave plants and animals where you see them. Also, no pets are allowed as this is a habitat for sensitive species like the Eastern Box turtle and Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake.
Tour Sponsors The Nature Conservancy established this preserve at Sharon Hollow in 1993 because it provided one of the last chances for large-scale conservation of natural communities in southern Michigan. Thanks to the Weston family providing a generous donation in memory of their wife and mother, Anne C. “Nan” Weston, the Preserve could be protected long into the future.
