The route leads you by the Preserve’s award-winning visitor center. Then, on a one-mile boardwalk loop trail complete with a 30-foot-high wildlife viewing platform. The audio tour offers you a way to learn about and experience the wetlands and their birds while keeping your feet dry!

The Preserve is along the eastern shore of the Great Salt Lake in Layton, Utah, between Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area and the Antelope Island State Park Causeway.

The Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve is a unique system of salt and fresh water marshes, ponds, sloughs, and mudflats. It is a rich feeding ground for tens of thousands of migrating birds. The birds use the Great Salt Lake as a resting point on their journeys from Canada to Central and South America.

In fact, some of the largest gatherings of wildlife ever recorded on the Great Salt Lake have been observed here.

But on this tour, you will not only learn about birds but also other animals like frogs and foxes, wetland plants, the effects of air pollution.
